I obtained my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from University of Ibadan in Nigeria, following which I relocated to the United States to pursue my PhD in Molecular Microbiology at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Following the completion of my PhD, I was accepted for a residency training program in veterinary clinical pathology at the University of California-Davis. After the completion of my residency training program, I became a Diplomate of American College of Veterinary Pathologists after passing the board certification exam. Subsequently, I joined the College of Veterinary Medicine, Midwestern University, Glendale, Arizona, as an Assistant Professor of Clinical pathology (tenure-track), where I developed my research lab, mentored professional students interested in biomedical research and also taught clinical pathology courses. I joined Genentech in 2016 as a clinical pathologist to provide scientific support for oncology and non-oncology therapeutic safety and development, along with translational biomarker development.

My Focus
- Providing clinical pathology expertise to research and preclinical safety studies through well-written reports that accurately reflect data derived from standard clinical pathology endpoints as well as investigative biomarkers and immunotoxicological assessments.
- Serve as investigative toxicologic pathologist on programs with unexpected toxicologic findings
- Serve as Project Pathologist on assigned compounds, targets, and therapeutic areas.
- Effectively assess for pharmacological and toxicological effects of small molecules and biologics in preclinical studies, with a focus on clinical pathology, soluble biomarkers, and immunotoxicology.
- Collaborate with global team of pathologists and other scientists in design of preclinical safety studies and interpretation and communication of study findings, including the impact of the data on the safety profile and clinical development
- In conjunction with the study teams, I contribute an integrated assessment of the significance of study findings to human safety within regulatory submission packages (IND and NDA).
- Provide oversight of review of protocols, data, and reports generated at contract laboratories and maintain effective relationships with CRO clinical pathologists, scientists, and technical staff to ensure high quality, on-time reporting.
- Actively participates in the global drug development process through contributions as Project Pathologist on assigned drug targets
- Work collaboratively within our pathology and investigative safety teams to build our scientific and technical expertise in translational biomarkers and technologies used to support safety studies and in-vivo safety models.
- Drive scientific and technical support for identification, development, qualification, and validation of translational biomarkers and immunological-based endpoints through collaboration with global biomarker and immunotoxicology teams and internal and external expert working groups.
